Floating between worlds Silence disintegrates and spreads.
Initially inspired by oyster shells found on the beaches around Sullivans Cove, the shells themselves became the primary material for the work. Mostly, they are introduced Pacific oysters - a reflection of colonisation through these waters.
In the work, the shells became an ephemeral presence embodied. Inherent in the form and the material is death – it is the remains of something that was once fruitful, ever-changing… caught in the currents.
